The base engine in the Cherokee is a 2.4L 4-cylinder unit that produces 180 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. When mated to the standard 9-speed automatic with front-wheel drive, the Cherokee is capable of up to 31 mpg on the highway. The optional engine is a 3.2L 6-cylinder, which produces 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, with 270 horsepower and a whopping 295 foot-pounds of torque. All engines feature stop/start technology to help boost fuel economy and are mated to the same 9-speed transmission.
The Cherokee lineup offers a variety of standard safety tech including blind spot monitor with rear cross path detection, full speed forward collision warning wit active braking, and LaneSense lane keeping assist. The 4x4 models get Select-Terrain traction management system to help navigate different road conditions. Other safety features on the Cherokee include anti-lock brakes, traction control, stability control, hill-start control and ten airbags. Optional safety features include park assist, and a roadside assistance button.
The Altitude trim is powered with the base 2.4L engine with front wheel drive and optional 4x4. It includes 17-inch black aluminum wheels, power and heated gloss black exterior mirrors with courtesy turn signal lamps, automatic LED headlamps, LED taillamps, heated front seats, 8.4 touchscreen infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 4 USB ports, 6-speakers, active grille shutters, roof rails, power driver's seat, and rearview camera. A Sun and Sound package is available adding panoramic power sunroof and 9-speaker Alpine audio system.
The new X trim receives the 3.2L V6 engine and includes an optional 2.0L turbo engine with front wheel drive or optional 4x4. Cherokee X show its off-road nature with its raised off-road suspension, bigger all-terrain tires, larger fender flares, and unique hood and side decals. Other features added are LED fog lamps, tinted windows, exterior black finished trims, and dual rear exhaust with bright tips. The packages available are Sun and Sound and Trailer Tow (3.517 drive ratio, heavy duty engine cooling, harness, hitch receiver, and full-size spare).
The Latitude Lux trim receives the 3.2L V6 engine with standard front wheel drive and includes optional 2.0L turbo engine or 4x4. Some of the features included in this trim are Nappa leather upholstery, heated 8-way power front seats, leather heated steering wheel, chrome grille, dual zone automatic climate control, Uconnect 4, LED fog lamps, and power liftgate. Packages available for this trim are Sun and Sound, Trailer Tow, and Mopar Interior Package.
The Trailhawk has most of the features on the previous trim excluding leather seats, it enhances the off-road capabilities of this vehicle with 6-cylinder engine paired to a 4-wheel-drive system, locking differential for ultimate grip in low traction environments, all terrain tires, five skid plates, and a one-inch lift in the suspension. Packages available are Comfort and Convenience (security alarm, power liftgate, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and universal garage door opener), Sun/Sound and Navigation, Trailer Tow, and Technology (auto-high beams, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, full park and unpark assist system.
The luxurious Limited gets the 3.2L V6 engine and includes optional 2.0L turbo engine. It tops the Latitude Lux with 18-inch wheels, 10-speaker Alpine premium audio system, panoramic sunroof, windshield wiper de-icer, 7-inch multi-view driver cluster display, and adaptive cruise control. The Elite package offers ventilated front seats, hands-free liftgate, 19-inch painted diamond cut aluminum wheels, and navigation. Other packages available are Mopar Interior and Trailer Tow.
